Tony Stewart's grand jury investigation. Jury deliberates within less than an hour that Stewart did no "wrong doing" in the death of fellow competitor Kevin Ward, Jr. According to Toxicology reports Ward was under the influence of marajuana at the time of the incident and it imparied his judgement.
Also NASCAR rule changes for the 2015 season.
NASCAR made 60 modifications to the rules for the 2015 season. Major points-
Reduction of horsepower to 725hp- Going to be very similar to the NNS series. Talk about the simularities and if or will this will hurt NNS. Tapered Spacers instead of smaller engines- Owners again have a say. We're seeing the RTA have a big force. Kauffman said their voice is louder than ever.
Less downforce on the cars- Mike Bliss and Matt Kenseth both said that this is the way to go. hopefully it means better racing.
Qualifying format changes at Daytona for 500- Big deal?
Testing ban on all tracks- Including non-sancitioned tracks. Hard to police? Cost effiecent. RTA reers head early. What happens to veterans/rookies who test for Sprint Cup Series teams? Good or bad for the sport?
BK Racing mess- Ryan Truex out again. Travis Kvapil replaces him on entry list. Where does Truex go from here? How was Truex's year going?
This week in NASCAR history- 1997 Hanes 500 at Martinsville Speedway- Jeff Burton wins. First short track win of his career. Big story- Rusty Wallace jumped restart at the end of the race and was fined $10k for comments- pays in pennies. Earnhardt whispered in Wallace's ear saying that 'it sucks and you got screwed' and Burton seemed to feel same way in VL. Burton seemed actually disappointed in VL cause he wanted to race Rusty the right way.
